One of the largest and oldest archaeological museums in Poland. Organizes permanent exhibitions dedicated to the history of Greater Poland, the beginnings of the Polish state, ancient Egypt and archeology of Sudan. The collected exhibits include inventories of graves and settlements, cluster and loose finds, treasures, individual items from all prehistory from the Paleolithic to the early Middle Ages, excavation sets from medieval and modern times from Greater Poland, as well as valuable archaeological monuments from Egypt and Sudan. The most valuable museum exhibit in the Sudan archaeological exhibition is a collection of 50 valuable objects from various archaeological sites, which were transferred to Poznań as a long-term deposit by the Directorate of the National Museum in Khartoum. These exhibits are considered to be outstanding masterpieces of ancient arts and crafts. The seat of the Archaeological Museum in Poznań is the Górka Palace. It was built in the 1640s. The building contains an early Renaissance portal from 1548, inside a courtyard with a columned cloister and two large rooms on the ground floor.
