Address: ul. Zamkowa 5 , 62-035 Kórnik
This is a historic residence of the Górków and Działyński families located on Lake Kórnickie. Its origins date back to the Middle Ages. Established as a defensive structure, which was built on a swamp island and surrounded by a moat. Current architecture is associated with English neo-Gothic. One of its owners, Teofilia née Działyński Szołdrska - Potulicka, rebuilt the castle in the Baroque style and arranged a French-style garden nearby (now an arboretum), created tree nurseries and wildlife gardens with exotic plants and animals, also cared for the development of the city, bringing it to German craftsmen-colonists. A portrait of Teofila dressed in a white dress, painted by A. Pesne, still in the castle to this day, gave rise to the legend of the White Lady - one of the most famous ghosts living in Polish castles. One of the next owners was Tytus Działyński who rebuilt the castle in the style of English neo-Gothic, preserved to this day. According to his intentions, the castle was not only to be a private residence, but to serve the nation as a library and museum. Titus initiated the collection of old prints and manuscripts (including Chopin, Mickiewicz, and Bonaparte), which are kept in the Kórnik Library until today. Teofili's French-style garden has been transformed into a romantic-style park - the current arboretum. In 1924, the castle, together with an impressive collection of works of art, bibliophile collections and dendrological garden (Kórnik Arboretum) was handed over to the Polish nation. On July 11, 2011, the building was declared a Monument of Polish History.
