Address: ul. Dworcowa 12 , 89-333 Osiek nad Notecią
The Museum of Folk Culture in Osiek covers the northern outskirts of Greater Poland. The facility collects exhibits and rural architecture from the area of Krajna, Pałuki and Notecka Forest. The creation of the museum in Osiek on the Noteć River was decided by an accidental archeological discovery in 1972. While collecting sand for construction purposes, a multi-chamber box grave with several ashtrays was unearthed on the moraine hill in the Osiek part called Pracz. Excavations started later, uncovered crematory burials from the early Iron Age to Roman times. During the research, which lasted from 1972 to 1977, a total of 581 burials, clay pots, crematory piles lined with stones, individual tools, weapons and bronze ornaments were discovered. Excavations covered the area of 1.5 ha.
