Wielkopolska is known for valuable architectural monuments, especially religious ones. Those who want to see several of them, and at the same time encounter beautiful nature and charming landscapes, should definitely visit Wągrowiec. Located in the Chodzieskie Lake District, Wągrowiec is known for its picturesque location on Lake Durowskie. Like most reservoirs in Greater Poland, it is a gutter lake of glacial origin. Wągrowiec is an important industrial center in which tourism plays a very important role. Leisure tourism is developing particularly well here, while good tourist facilities are conducive to recreation. It is worth noting that the local culture has been at a high level for centuries. Here was born Jakub Wujek, a famous Jesuit, whose outstanding achievement was the first translation of the Bible into Polish. This event took place at the end of the 16th century. In Wągrowiec it is worth seeing the church of St. Jacob. Built in the 16th century in the late Gothic style, it boasts a beautiful, Renaissance polychrome decorating the walls of one of the chapels. Renaissance and Baroque altars also impress visitors. The second important church is the former Cistercian church, to which the former monastery buildings adjoin. In Wągrowiec, the Regional Museum also deserves attention. Opatowiec. In the museum you can learn about the history of the city and see an interesting ethnographic exhibition. A large part of the exhibits presented here is related to the person of the greatest resident of the city - Jakub Wujek. One of the interesting attractions of Wągrowiec is the "crossing" of two rivers: Wałów and Nielba. Near the center of Wągrowiec, it is also worth visiting the tomb of Captain Franciszek Łakiński, which is distinguished by its original shape (it resembles a small pyramid). The surroundings of Wągrowiec are very attractive in terms of landscape. The gutter lakes dominate this hilly landscape. There are also places of interest from the point of view of local explorers. In Budzejewko you can see an interesting erratic boulder, called the stone of St. Adalbert. As legend has it, the famous martyr was supposed to preach his boulder. Noteworthy is also the church in Łekno and the wooden church of St. Mikołaj in Tarnów Pałucki.
